Blood Typing

What is Blood Typing?

Antigens are markers on the surface of red blood cells which are unique to each individual (except in the case of identical twins.) All antigens fall into a specific group; A, B or O (ABO). If you have blood group A, then you have A antigens covering your red cells. Blood group B means you have B antigens. Blood group O has neither A nor B antigens, and blood group AB has some of both.

What is the EldonCard Blood Typing Kit?

The Eldon Blood Type Kit will quickly and easily provide you with your blood type (A, AB, B or O) as well as your rhesus factor (Rh negative or Rh positive) in just a few minutes. The test can be performed either by a healthcare professional or by you in the convenience of your home. There is no need for special laboratory supplies or training. The kit is complete with easy step by step instructions and all the items needed to perform the test. With just a few drops of blood from a finger nick, the test card will show you which antigens you have in your blood to determine your exact blood type. The test card can then be filled out with personal identification information and laminated with the plastic sheet provided in the kit to ensure you have a permanent record.

Why should you be tested?

In case of a medical emergency, it is important to know your blood type. Having this information ready to give health care providers will save valuable time in a medical emergency. Many people keep the record of their blood type together with other pertinent identification records such as driver's license and insurance information. RECEIVING BLOOD FROM THE WRONG ABO GROUP COULD BE FATAL!
